THUPPAAKKI- movie review

With Vijay's two former successful hits namely Velayudam and nanban, he was so expected to extend his winning streak to a triple. Did it happen via his Thuppaaki movie? Did he live up to the expectations of the masses? Seriously, it has become the latest buzz spinning around the busy Kollywood arena.

The answer is pretty clear. Vijay has done a great job in this action-thriller. He fits perfectly well to the role of an Army in the movie. Vijay has proven again that he's capable of producing some awesome outlets in Kollywood. As always, Vijay scores in his dance and more specifically, his realistic action turns the things around positively this time.

Let's briefly look at the story-line. As the story begins, the suspense gets heaping up in two separate  directions. One follows the way how sagaciously Jagadhish (Vijay)- an Army personnel who returns to his hometown, Mumbai traces up the terrorist gang and gets hold of the head. And the other path opens up when Jagadhish repudiates the proposal by the parents initially, and grudually falls for it in the latter part. The climax unfolds how things of the two direction take turn for the good.

The director AR Murugadaas could cleverly mix up things in the film that in turn, enabled the viewers to watch a blend of an action thriller and romance in a single movie. Vijay’s shaped up body does justice to the role and the director’s part in utilizing him in the exact way that suits the character must not be forgotten. The costume selection, too, is noteworthy. It secured the director’s place  in a couple of crucial moments.

Kajal Agarwal requires a little more accentutation of her character.  Sathyan as the sub-inspector  and Jayaram as the army officer gave an above-average performance. Vidyut Jamwal's  role as a villain is more than convincing.  Definitely, the crews made an impact on the slow and steady pace of the movie, which is highly remarkable.

Most surprisingly, Santhosh sivan’s camera does the trick. He makes us bound to the screen by his excellent camera work. You would hardly find those picturesque scenes scattered around the busy Mumbai. Editing is fine, whilst the organization of the songs needs much more task and technique. Harish Jayaraj’s songs tug your heart strings at times, with the melodious feel to them.

On cards, it’be marked as a fantastic mixture of both romance and action and undoubtedly would keep the Vijay fans on an even keel.

Anti-Vijay fans get nothing much to knit their brow this time, unfortunately.

Verdict: Thuppaki’s bullets are sure to hit the mark.
