Sivaji 3D Pre Release Buzz Is Excellent

Even though Sivaji is a re-release, the talk in the industry is that Sivaji 3D is expected to have come out extremely well and could give the new movies releasing that week a jolt. After removing almost 30 minutes, the movie is expected to be crisp and engaging from start to finish.

Movie review: Poda Podi

Movie review: Poda Podi

The story presents itself as a modern-day love story, but it definitely isn't.
Pray to god that he blesses you with immense energy and patience to sit through this disappointing film that is bereft of, forget entertainment, not even moments of laughter. Undeniably, the lead actors in the film are exceptionally good dancers and one can vouch for it. But, what doesn't work in the favour of the film is the hope that the audiences are fools to flock to theatres to watch 10 minutes of impeccable dance performance in a film that runs to almost three hours.

Arjun, played by Silambarasan, calls himself an animation designer in the film, but he is either sleeping or dancing in clubs for most part. Nisha, played by Varalaxmi, is an aspiring salsa dancer with a goal to win a Letz Dance competition in London. Arjun and Nisha meet in a club and share a few drinks one lazy evening.

Few days later, they're madly in love with each other. Arjun, who's an Indian, and moreover a Tamilian by birth, aspires to change Nisha before marriage. Nisha, born and raised in London, is completely against culture and society. When Nisha refuses to change some of her qualities for good, Arjun calls off their relationship. And they sulk for few days before reuniting with the intention of marriage.

Things change drastically post-wedding for Nisha and Arjun. While Nisha wants to closely dance with her salsa partner, Arjun intervenes citing her marital status. With her dance competition just three weeks away, Nisha should choose between her life or dance partner. Who will Nisha choose forms the rest of the story.

The story presents itself as a modern-day love story, but it definitely isn't. The film is a desperate attempt to catapult the actor's image to one of the best dancers in the film industry, while the actress proves her mettle as one of the best dancers in the newcomers' category.

Never in its entire running time does the film strike a chord with the audience. Does the director want to prove that small adjustments in a relationship pave way to a happy and healthy ending? But on the contrary, he crushes his own philosophy by proving that if one gives in to adjustments, then he or she will suffer its consequence forever.

Silambarasan, in a desperate attempt to be the next superstar, fails miserably in his role. His role in this film is completely opposite to the one he played in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya, but he still seems to have maintained a subtle sarcasm in his acting, which he assumes, is his forte, but it's definitely not. The film throws plenty of opportunities for the actor to dance, but he awaits his moment until the climax.

Varalaxmi doesn't even spare a single moment to dance. Undeniably, she shines as a dancer, but she should definitely find herself a dubbing artist. Her voice reminds me of Rani Mukerji's voice in some of earlier films such as Mehndi and Ghulam. She definitely needs to work on her expressions and most importantly on her diction if she plans to continue dubbing for herself.

As far as music is concerned, barring the Love pannlama track, which is a bad rip-off of Eminem'sReal Slim Shady, the rest of the album helps the film to maintain some interest.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ) – Exclusive Review

nov 13 (TruthDive): JTHJ – Yash Chopra’s final directorial venture. The man has proved he can make movie andhistory altogether. You will be awestruck bound to your seats watching King Khan, Kat and Anushka Sharma on-screen. The movie was directed by Yash Chopra and partly by his son Aditya Chopra.

The never-ending love story!

Our hero-in (Katrina) with childlike belief on silly little things falls in love with a charming roadside Romeo – Samar Anand (Sharukh Khan) in London. Time comes for her to testify her superstition belief over true love or rather for her true love-she prays to god that he saves Samar from a horrible accident and in return she’d never see him for lifetime. She opts to lose his love in fear of losing him forever. She makes him promise to leave her and never to return to her or even London for that matter.
Our hero wants to prove her superstition wrong and he too challenges the almighty that if he dies, then she’d understand that she was wrong and it was not her fault he met with an accident. He joins bomb squad in Indian Army and diffuses them with no armor. He wishes to die to prove his love for her, but maybe her superstition was not just a superstition after all!
A decade later fate plays its part, Akeera(Anushka Sharma) shows up from nowhere as Discovery channel’s freelance documentary maker. She makes a movie on him on reading his personal diary, obviously falling in love that instant. And when the movie is made and is ready be to aired, the company protocol asks for Samar to be there in London. After a long hesitation he agrees to come to London, but what happens next is a lovely disaster with twists and turns which needs to be enjoyed in cinemas near you.

Anecdotes

Katrina: Jithna denge, uthna milenge
<<The more you share, the more you receive>>
Rishi Kapoor: Ishq tho hamesha aatha hai, bas apne hi vakth pe aatha hai
<<In the end Love always sprouts up, it’s just it takes its own time>>
Katrina: Ishq tho vakth pe aatha hai, bas voh apna vakth nahi tha!
<<Love always comes on its own time, it was just not the right time back then>>
Anushka: Hamre generation voh hai, jisme sex pehle aatha aur baad mein pyaar!
<<We belong to a generation where sex falls first and love is just a follow up>>

Memoirs

Sharukh makes two entries and both bag heavy round of applause – the first in his Royal Enfield with military suit and Ray Ban glasses, second with his effervescent looks since Mohabatein, with his guitar and lovely London in background.
Katrina and Anushka are given equal importance but are kept independent throughout (which is a bad thing while all audience expect is rivalry and controversies)

Glitches

Katrin’as family vanishes after first half and Sharukh”s family are kept in closet as just letter-pads.
Screenplay revolves around just these three and it’s annoying after a time.
Bomb squad scenes are heroic but way over dramatic as well.

 Tidbitz

Rishi Kapoor plays a guest role. He plays Katrina’s step dad who influences the screenplay to take a turn after his coming on-screen.

Box office collection : Thuppakki earns 11.03 cr, Podaa Podi earns 5.02 cr on opening day

Chennai, Nov 15 (TruthDive): This year Diwali’s Tamil release movies Vijay’s Thuppakki and Simbu’s Podaa Podi have made good impact at the Tamil Nadu box office.

Thuppakki opened to a rocking response at the box office collection centres on Diwali day garnering about 11.03 crores, while Simbu’s Podaa Podi, which has opened as a decorous family entertainer  has also done its best on its opening day, collecting about 5.02 crores.

Thuppakki’s tremendous collection of 11.03 crores has surpassed the recent box office super hit movie of Suriya’s Mattrran, which garnered 9.5 crore on its opening day. Vijay’s movie has also managed to beat all other big Bollywood releases, Shahrukh Khan’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar in Tamil Nadu, including Silambarasan’s Podaa Podi at the collection centres.

In majority of theatres, the occupancy registration was 100 %. However, Shahrukh Khan’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan that was released in around 38 screens in Tamil Nadu, was not a threat to Vijay’s Thuppakki in the state.

Early reports had said that Thuppakki has created a roaring business not only in the state but also in the other states of South India and International markets. Trade analysts predict Thuppakki would cross 50 crore in its first weekend.

Taran Adarsh, film critic tweeted, “Tamil film #Thuppakki is shining Overseas, despite the overpowering competition posed by #JTHJ and #SOS. Excellent!”

AR Murugadoss’ movies have always given out good results in his previous movies, by boasting his slick technical values; his recent Diwali release Thuppakki will also not be an exception.

At the same time, Tamil dance and romance film, Podaa Podi directed and written by debutant director Vignesh Shivan, which features Silambarasan and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in lead roles has given a Hollywood kind of feel good romantic flick and has shown a good collection on the opening day, next in line to Vijay’s Thuppakki.
